Scanning

Scanning In MASC

Masc is designed to work with barcode scanning. There are 2 methods to use

  1. All  products have a barcode
  2. None or a few products have a barcode

1.      Product Barcodes

In this case you should add you product barcode in the barcode field under each product in Stock Maintenance. When syncing the handheld , click on the option the “Barcode Scanning” when you have selected the route.

All products will be sent to the handheld in Barcode order, the user can scan an item and sell as normal. All products in your price matrix will also have the same barcode and will be selected in the same way.

2.      No Barcodes

In this scenario you must take the following addition steps

a.       Under System Nominal Codes add codes which will divide your product range for easy access , for example Code 1000 for Milk, 2000 for Butter / Cream ,3000 for Yoghurt etc.

b.      Under Stock , Product Maintenance change the Sales nominal for each product which you have marked as “Download to HH” to a suitable grouping.

c.       Download and install our barcode label printing program from www.e-ms.ie/download/bcsetup.exe. This will be installed in your c:\masc folder and will need to be relinked to your masc data. You can check the current location in MASC, system – Relink Tables and note the location of Group 2.

d.      You will have a shortcut on your desktop to “Stock Barcodes”, When linked to your data click on “Label / ALL or Filter Description”, a box will appear to filter the list but you can “OK”. Only product linked to valid nominal codes will be listed. The list will be printed by group for easy access by the van sales person.

e.       Sync the handheld and tick the box for “Barcode Scanning”

f.       When starting a sale open the barcode list report to the relevant page and scan the item and proceed as normal.
